Meanwhile uses are a significant tool for activating the identity of both small and large regeneration projects before they begin or reach their full completion, especially in times of uncertainties. The panel presents 3 real-life case studies (Euston in London, MIND in Milan, and Dortmund U in Dortmund) from the research European project "T-Factor", exploring the maturity level of their meanwhile actions.

Exploring the concept and approaches of meanwhile uses and deep diving into case studies, we will discuss major strengths, challenges, and opportunities. From different perspectives, and for various stakeholders.
T-Factor is a European Commission funded project through Horizon2020 funds. Its main objective is to research and implement a set of tools, guidelines, and local pilots to extend the use of 'meanwhile spaces' and temporary urbanism across all European Union cities.

In times of uncertainties, cities need effective tools to adapt, and meanwhile uses provide one such approach, responding to the continuously evolving city model and enhancing cities' resilience. Increasingly, vacant buildings, plots, and unutilized spaces are being utilized as temporary sites for co-creative experimentation, giving rise to numerous innovative cultural, social, and entrepreneurial activities. These initiatives significantly contribute to creating shared public value, transforming the social, cultural, and economic fabrics of areas under regeneration. In many cases, they even become permanent fixtures of the local landscape, serving as prototypes for future neighborhoods and areas.
